General Advice on maintenance of your system.
We will be pleased to price for supply and fitting or supply only with the parts mailed directly to your site.
Sport& Play Design ltd are unique in that we have the ability to provide play systems in either box
( square steel) with our famous internal safety netting system or constructed in the traditional method with tubular steel with the nets neatly lashed to the padded frame.
Sport & Play design will ensure that your structure meets with the requirements of the new European |Standard and that the required periodic inspections of the steel can be undertaken with minimal disruption and cost to your operation
'We lash each individal square of net to the fame in a fail safe method'
'We pride ourselves on quality and sell our structures on performance and attention to detail not the speed at which they are installed'
Our systems will require only one annual maintenace inspection ( please see service section for details of how to arrange this) minimal maintenance by site operators due to the quality of the build.
Below we have attempted to explain the 2 different options and the advantages they will have to the end user and client.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mark if you would like further details or an informal discussion.
Internal Netting
There are a number of long term advantages to using this system although it incurs additional cost to the price of the installation.
We have outlined the details below and would be pleased to discuss further prior to you making any final decision.
1. Safety
All nets are cable tied to the steel structure directly ensuring that :
They stay 'piano wire' tight
Users are unable to tamper with the method of fixing.
Padding is manufactured individually for each section and encloses all steel and fixings.
The 'box steel structure' is completely bolted together and no steel or fixings are visible.
2. Maintenance
This method ensures that the netting is virtually maintenance free.
The steel structure however can easily be inspected at regular intervals without removing any padding or netting.
Following expiry of the warranty period it will be extremely unlikely that maintenance of nets will be required which would mean that a basic maintenance contract ( visual maintenance inspection) entailing one visit per year would suffice to comply with the European Standard.
This is now a requirement of EN1176 part 10 which will require all structures to be inspected for steel 'fatigue' and and any welding and connections.
( Using the external twining method uprights and cross sections would require to be untwined and then stripped back, original materials are then rendered unusable and require replacement )
3 Aesthetics
This method provides a clean clear high quality finish which is also easy to clean.
4. Continuous Floor Sheeting
In addition with both installation methods we use continuous sewn in floor sheeting at ground floor level. This ensures there are no unsightly gaps which can become foot and finger traps and allows for easy mop/ wipe cleaning.
5. System Edging trim
Each exterior floor edge is fitted with a perimeter trim to cover the fixings at ground floor level ensuring there is no risk of 'user snagging' and allows for vacuum/ mopping to be carried out right up to the system edge.
There are no finger/toe or dust traps.
Summary
The 'internal netting method' takes longer for us to install and requires bespoke components for the padding. We believe that in the long and short term the client will benefit from increased longevity, improved safety and minimal maintenance costs and own a play structure that will be visually and technically of the highest quality.
Industry standards / Quality of Equipment Build and Theming.
We would like to highlight a number of issues which we regard as 'key' to differentiating our product and its quality from other options available in the indoor play market.
1. Build Quality
All our Directors have been active members of the API ( Association of Play Industries) This requires that we actively support and meet with the highest current industry standards, manufacturing and installation techniques and ethical business practices within Indoor Play. Our customers will confirm that we not only comply with these guidelines but in all instances surpass expectation in terms of build quality, health and Safety, Service and long term sustainability of the equipment.
2. European Standards
Both myself and Mr John Simmons were both former chairman of the API for a number of years and were both members of the CEN Committee, instrumental in developing the first European Standard for Play EN1176 :2008 part 10.
All new installations in the UK will be inspected and required to meet this Standard from 1st January 2010 super ceding BS 8409 which until then is still being applied.
Safety Anticlimb Netting
To comply with the above standard we will provide anticlimb netting infill panels from ground floor to first floor level to the external perimeter of the structure where necessary.
3. Independent Post Installation Inspection
We will include in our submission for Independent Post Installation inspection by TPIC ( The Play Inspection Company) Alternatively RoSPA ( Royal society for the Prevention of Accidents ) offer the same service.
The structures are inspected by Mr Nick Balmforth who was Chairman of the CEN Committee responsible for EN1176:2008 Part1,and who is a qualified member and examiner of the Register Of Play Inspectors International. He has inspected systems worldwide over the last 15years (Chairman of the European Committee for EN1176 Part 10) the last 15 years and Post Installation Inspection by an RPII Inspector to current Standards is recommended by the HSE as best practice required today by most Local Authorities in view of our litigious society and importantly can influence insurance companies.
